GUIDED TOUR OF THE CASTELBUONO ESTATE WITH WINE TASTING:

THE CARAPACE OF ARNALDO TOMODORO

Il Carapace was born from the Lunelli family’s dream of seeing a cellar built that was a treasure chest for wine. From the long-standing friendship with Arnaldo Pomodoro and from the previous collaboration – which had led the Master to create “Centenarium”, the sculpture that celebrates the century of history of the Ferrari Cellars – the idea arose to propose to him, whose sculptures stand out in symbolic places around the world, to realize the cellar.

The idea is that of a shape reminiscent of the turtle, a symbol of stability and longevity which, with its carapace, represents the union between earth and sky “.

THE WORK

The result is an absolutely unique work, the first sculpture in the world in which it is possible to live and work, a place where art and nature, sculpture and wine dialogue, emphasizing the exceptional nature of both the container and the content. Entering the “Carapace” means entering a sculpture by Pomodoro, as his artistic alphabet immediately perceives, immediately recognizable in the internal vault. A winery that gives emotions, as happened to its author, Arnaldo Pomodoro. He told it himself: “For the first time in my life I had the thrill of being able to walk, talk and drink inside one of my works”.

The carapace is the first sculpture in the world in which you live and work, it is a treasure trove of great wines, Sagrantino and Rosso di Montefalco, the soul of the truest Umbria.

IN THE CARAPACE OF ARNALDO TOMATO NATURE, WINE AND ART DIALOGUE AMONG THEM

The “Carapace” offers itself to the eye as a large dome covered with copper, engraved with cracks that recall the furrows of the earth that embraces it. A sculptural element in the shape of a red dart that sticks into the ground emphasizes the work in the landscape.

The duration of the visit is approximately one hour; During the guided tour, Arnaldo Pomodoro’s Carapace project, the history of the Lunelli family, the winemaking practices and information on the aging of our wines will be illustrated. Wine tasting will follow.
